With over 30 years of intense dedication to volleyball, both as a player and a coach, my journey embodies resilience and a deep commitment to the sport’s principles. I believe in fostering a profound love for volleyball, cultivating a cohesive team environment, and unlocking individual potential through collaborative strategies.
My passion for volleyball ignited at the age of 13 when a coach’s discouragement fueled my determination. Rather than succumbing, I channeled it into becoming a top player in New York State. My journey led me through playing for club and Junior Olympic teams, eventually earning a college scholarship. At Dowling College, I played a pivotal role in securing several ECC Div II championships, showcasing my skills as both a middle and right-side player. My journey culminated at Stony Brook University, where I wrapped up my playing career as a Division I athlete.
Post-graduation, my coaching path began with the Long Island Volleyball Club, where I coached 15s and 16s. Once I relocated to South Florida, I continued shaping young athletes’ skills at the high school level. Establishing a volleyball program at Miami Edison Senior High, I propelled aspiring athletes toward scholarships at Miami Dade College while also coaching at Rebelle Athletics Volleyball Club. My dedication was acknowledged by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) for exceptional leadership and commitment to team sports.
In 2023, I joined Wildfire Volleyball Academy, assuming the role of coach for one of the 16 State Black Club teams. Volleyball’s impact extends far beyond its technicalities, shaping my character profoundly. Values like teamwork, discipline, and leadership, ingrained in the sport, transcend the court, influencing both my personal and professional life. Setbacks, whether on the court or in personal challenges, became steppingstones for growth. Embracing failure as an avenue for improvement instilled in me patience, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of self-improvement.
